Acton was right

http://www.washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20070227-084730-5162r.htm

This is an outrage, and half the outrage is over the fact that it's not surprising. Do you think we'd be having debates about socialized health care or banning the word "nigger" if people knew history? Isn't it clear that illegally armed Germans would be storming Berlin right now if they understood the significance of their ignominious past? You think holocausts happen for no reason?! You think they're some accident?

Once again, Alex Jones is right; people who have lived under tyranny before (USSR, China) actually know how to identify it, like this Soviet family in the news article. At least stupid pathetic third world hoardes know not to trust the government! What has to happen before we learn that lesson, and for good this time?

Those court rulings are the worst of all. We'd all be on the path to a more perfect union if court cases were decided through a series of astrological readings.

Comment taken from Slashdot

Source: http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/02/20/0045227.shtml

The art of repressive politics - overall - is keeping the level of abuse down to just under that point where the populace will turn on you. Both the UK and the USA have been riding ever closer to that line, yet artfully avoiding crossing it. Modern polling techniques added to modern disinformation techniques have produced a society that is passive in the face of massive levels of rights loss, coercion, and general interference; modern comforts leave citizens ever more unwilling to take the risk of sacrificing all for what to most of them is just an abstract.

As long as this balance in maintained, there are only two choices for the disaffected; push the rest of the populace over the line (which puts you in the same position as the government - the populace didn't want to go there in the first place so you are engaged in coercion) or act on your own if you can find an effective vector. This, of course, is extremely risky, as the natural corollary for the government's getting out of hand in the above-described ways is an increased level of activity against the disaffected.

Currently, the levers that crack open the door to dictatorship are labeled "terrorism" and "think of the children." These two factors, artfully applied, have demonstrated the power to make the UK and USA populations give up anything, put up with anything, pay anything, without upsetting anyone but the highest functioning individuals who have made rights and freedom their concern. And this is far too small a demographic to result in an effective counter reaction. Until or unless you can defuse the power of these two control vectors to manipulate the general population, and keep replacement and enhancement vectors from taking their place (oh god, we have to control carbon output) it is my opinion that the governments of both countries will continue to increase pressure on the populace in the areas of rights loss, coercion, and general interference. The benefits are power, as you noted, and financial gains for those who control the system. These are not elements that can be replaced for the power hungry; you can offer no substitute, you can only remove them, and that, of course, will provoke a severe reaction.

Welcome to the Former United States

Here is a sample of some of the treasonous acts against this country by its government.

10. Almost four trillion dollars are missing from the Pentagon. This has been publicly admitted by Rumsfeld and others, but there have been neither investigations nor arrests. (1) ( 2)

9. Our government has spent billions on fake news.

8. George Bush and Tony Blair premeditatedly lied about WMD's to enter into a war in Iraq. Their own minutes - the Downing Street memo, the White House memo, etc - have been released and confirmed to be authentic by British officials, and it was even reported on in the Times of London and Associated Press that, according to memo, the "facts and intelligence were being fixed around the policy" of "removing Saddam through military action." Times of London headline: "Bush 'tried to lure Saddam into war using UN aircraft'"

7. The FBI got caught in 1993 ordering the World Trade Center bombing to take place; a whistleblower captured it on audiotape, and it was even reported on in the New York Times by Ralph Blumenthal.

6. The Military Commissions Act, which was recently signed into law, literally nullifies and overturns the entire Constitution and Bill of Rights, according to all legal scholars who have looked at it, including the President-elect of the National Lawyers Guild, Marjorie Cohn. It doesn't just affect citizens; it is directed at citizens and is an open declaration of war on the American people.

5. The police are being militarized, in preparation for martial law. They have been given rubber bullets to get them accustomed to firing into crowds of American citizens. Soon, those rubber bullets will be replaced with real ones. Type "taser deaths" into Google.

4. Diebold engineers have quit and gone public saying that they were hired to create programs that would untraceably steal elections. You can see it on videotape in America: Freedom to Fascism; see below.

3. The CIA has been caught shipping in and dealing drugs; many whistleblowers have gone public, and much of it was reported on in the San Jose Mercury News in a three-part series . Gary Webb, the investigative journalist who broke the story, was found dead with two gunshot wounds in the back of the head. It was ruled a suicide.

2. The North American Union is here. It's being snuck in under the name "the Security and Prosperity Partnership," and will only be fully announced once it's too late. The European Union started out as a steel deal, the "European Coal and Steel Community" (ECSC). See the link for Lou Dobbs's coverage.

1. Our government has staged terrorism all over the world, including in Iran, in order to overthrow the pro-West, pro-democracy Mozadeq and install a dictator. This is admitted on the CIA's own web site.

Criminals brag

"Today, America would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order [referring to the 1991 LA Riot]. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government."
- Dr. Henry Kissinger, Bilderberger Conference, Evians, France, 1991

FACT: Governments use fear to control you

More on government-sponsored terrorism

US Republicans launch terror ad

The US Republican Party has launched a controversial terror-linked TV advertisement to bolster support ahead of mid-term elections next month.

The footage shows al-Qaeda leaders with captions of threatening statements, while the soundtrack of a ticking bomb plays in the background.

The advertisement, which ends with the sound of a bomb exploding, is due to air from Sunday.

Democrats have hit out at the commercial, calling it scaremongering.

US voters go to the polls on 7 November to elect members of Congress.

Republicans have made a tough stance on terrorism a major part of their campaign strategy.

'Desperate ploy'

Both Osama Bin Laden and his second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, are shown in the commercial, which is entitled "The Stakes".

Attributed quotes such as "Kill the Americans" and "What is yet to come will be even greater" are flashed across the screen.

Gun-bearing militants in training camps are also shown, followed by the stark message: "These are the stakes. Vote November 7th."

A statement on the Democratic National Committee website called the advertisement "a desperate ploy to once again try to scare voters and distract from their failures".

"Republicans are so afraid of their abysmal record they can't offer one example of what they've done to keep America safe," the response said.

But the Republican National Committee said the advertisement "underscores the high stakes America faces in the global War on Terror".

The BBC's Justin Webb in Washington says the advertisement comes as the Republican Party face up to the real possibility that it could lose control of one or both houses in the polls.

This is an outcome that would in effect torpedo the Bush presidency, our correspondent adds.
